چکیده

In this work, a novel detailed dynamic model for latent cold thermal storage unit containing water as phase change material (PCM) is presented. The proposed based on transient energy balances both PCM capsules and heat transfer fluid (HTF). apparent capacity approach used to transition processes in PCM, where the given temperature-dependent function. This method can be simply integrated into variety of software assess efficiency storage. validated using measured results from literature it investigate influence multiple parameters performance. obtained result show that melting process varies axial direction radial unit. It was also observed higher height tank, longer discharge period. Increasing diameter 47 mm 77 leads increase discharging period by about 30%. addition, varying tank initial temperature between −8 °C −4 does not have significant effect time. Finally, recommended improving performance minimizing pumper consumption, compromise HTF flow rate capsule must determined.

Thermal energy storage – overview and specific insight into nitrate salts for sensible and latent heat storage

Thermal energy storage (TES) is capable to reduce the demand of conventional energy sources for two reasons: First, they prevent the mismatch between the energy supply and the power demand when generating electricity from renewable energy sources. Second, utilization of waste heat in industrial processes by thermal energy storage reduces the final energy consumption. This review focuses mainly ...

Numerical Simulation of a Porous Latent Heat Thermal Energy Storage for Thermoelectric Cooling

Porous latent heat thermal energy storage for thermoelectric cooling is simulated via a matrix-based enthalpy formulation, having the temperature as unknown, in a three-dimensional domain. The system is made up of two aluminum containers; the inner one contains the cooling objective in water suspension and the outer one the phase change material (PCM) in a porous aluminum matrix. The system’s c...
